Stunt Rigging is not outlined by any specific standards – it is a mix of rigging techniques borrowed from disciplines such as rock climbing, circus, mountaineering, tree climbing, caving, yachting, industrial rigging, and rope access to produce specific dramatic or acrobatics effects. Stunt rigging is the art of making people fly through the air, skid on the ground, float in space, get smashed into things without harm, and display superhuman strength.
Stunt riggers are trained to calculate weight, suspension, and balance. They can control the movements of the items being moved through tight spaces or great heights. A rigger uses ropes, pulleys, and chains to move camera equipment, lighting, or set pieces. They also use their rigging to move actors, creating the appearance of flying or falling.
At Cosmos Studios we have equipped a stunt rigging system for rent — including winches, harnesses, and crash pads. Rigging is adjustable and can be constructed on all three shooting locations: green screen, white cyclorama, or black void.
Our stunt rigger and coordinator with more than 20 years of industry experience will explain all the details and work with the filming crew for the best results. Extra equipment rental is also available upon request.
Cosmos Studios team demonstrates a consistent commitment to safety at all times. Call us to discuss your next marvelous shooting!
